Anxiety

Anxiety can mean worry, nervousness or self-doubt. Sometimes, it's easy to pinpoint the cause of anxiety, while other times it's  not. Everyone feels some level of anxiety once in a while. It's a common and normal emotion that’s essential for effective functioning. Healthy stress and anxious feelings usually passes once the stressful situation has gone, or the ‘stressor’ is removed.

 

However, overwhelming, recurring, or “out of nowhere” fear or dread can deeply impact people. Unhealthy anxiety is more than just feeling stressed or worried. The anxious feelings don’t subside.

When anxiety interferes like this, talking to a counsellor/therapist can help.
